First I want to say, that it is very impressive, what you do with the PSP and the N64 emulation. Unfortunately there is no realy good SNES emulator. Games with Mode 7 or FX-Chip have a slow fps or don´t work.

My question is, if it is possible, that you spend a little bit of time to optimaze existing PSP SNES emulators, SNES TYL or SNES Euphoria. It would be great if we can play more SNES Games with full speed.

We see how fuwerfull the PSP is and what is possible if the developers make a great and lovefull job. DaedalusX64 is the best evidence.

Snes tyl runs snes really well, there is no crashing in the emulator. Try getting a newer version. But right now the team is trying to fix the remaining errors in Daedalus.

Thats right, but most games are slow or have slowdowns. I mean, perhaps someone of Team DaedalusX64 have time or fun to make the emulator better or an other developers read this and work on the emulator to make it better.

Well I've never had problems with a SNES emulator for psp, the whole team (most likely) is working on the N64

Play games as Mario Kart, F-Zero, Winter Gold, Stunt Race FX, Killer Instinct, Tetris Attack, Plock, Donkey Kong Country 1-3... No one of this games have constant 50 fps (PAL) or 60 fps (NTSC). Sometimes you have to choice beetween good pfs and graphic gliches or good graphic, but slow fps. I´m using SNES Euphiria, whitch is a better and modificated version from Zack (http://www.retroemu.com)

I don´t say "Stop coding DaedalusX64". But perhaps one or some developers have the time and fun to work on two emulators, like the EmulateMii-Team (http://www.emulatemii.com).

I understand you're not saying stop with Daedalus but I'm saying there is a chance everyone is busy.

I think Zack is still working on it, though his updates are usually far between. Try looking at retroemu.com, that's his site.

No, Zack wrote, that he dont want to develop for the PSP anymore. That´s pity, but we have to respect Zacks decision.

I´ve written something to this here.

Programming an emulator is like laying a puzzle, if you cant find where a piece is located you leave it for later and continue with a new piece.
So if you cant find why a certain function don't work like it should, you leave it for later and try to fix something else in the mean time.
The whole emulator is very complex and it take plenty of time to develop code for it. We develop it for fun and we don't get any pay for working on the emulator... While you want this or that to get done on the emulator or to make a certain emulator to work on a certain system it not really a driving force for us...
So while we appreciate the feedback please keep in mind that we develop out of free will and not because we have to...

Yes, that´s right and I never say "You must do that". It´s only a wish from me to see the good old SNES games on a portable console. To develop this, you need a lot of know how. You can be a great developer in C++ or so. That don´t mean, that you can develop an emulator. You need also the knowledge of the system, you want to emulate. For PSP there is a additional hurdle. You can´t use an SDK or thinks like Direct X or the .net Framework.

So you have my respect and if nobody want to develop an good SNES Emu, than I must respect hat (or do it by myself, but I can´t because I want to learn programming since 10 years, but I can´t. I dont have the "logical thinking" that is required. I only can script a little bit html/php/sql, but not enough to create big things. (And that is a thing I can´t really respect :())

Well making it would take awile...I could try to fix some stuff with one of the SNES emulators now and post it on here for you. I can't promise alot of change but it's something.

I use snes9x mecm along with a speedhack file, and all the games you mentioned work fine for me. The speedhack makes the difference between slow and full-speed (or close) for most of those games.

Place the attached file (unzipped) in your Data folder, and see if it's any better for you.

Even Super Mario RPG is full-speed, except for some slight slowdowns in battle while using certain attacks.

Tested (With SNES Euphoria, because it´s the most optimatzed version for now)

Mario Kart -> ~37 fps
Stunt Race FX -> unplayable
Winter Gold -> ~ 16 fps
Killer Instinct -> ~ 40 fps
Mortal Kombat 1 -> Seems to be OK
Mortal Kombat 2 -> Good FPS, but soundproblems, suddely the emu/psp freeze
F-Zero -> ~43,44,45 fps
Donke Kong Country -> Slowdowns on some levers (First for example)

I´m convinced, that all snes games can run with full speed and sound on the psp. It´s strong enough.

@MHFsilver: If you want to make a little bit, that would be great. What do you think about to include the project into the DaedalusX64-Project-Structure (I made this suggestion in retroemu-board, too). I mean SVNs, Bug Tracker, Section in the board and so on. I think that´s something, that is missing for the snes/psp emu scene. So everyone can post bugs can give feedback and perhaps other people are motivated to help.

Btw: Zacks thinks about starting to develop the emu from new, based on snes 1.51. I don´t know what is easyer: Continue from what we have, or start new convertion.

Edit: Don´t do this for me. Do it for you, if you like/love the SNES and do it for all the other people, which like to play snes games on a portable console.

Euphoria is the most recent version, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the best (or fastest) version. I personally tried it and sticked with mecm as I said in my post. All the games you mentioned (except for Winter Gold and Stunt Race, haven't tried those ones) work fine for me, though I do use Frameskip 1.

Remember that the type of Renderer you use, might make a significant difference in performance as well.
