Hi.

I'm using R766, on a PSP Brite, with 6.20 FW.

I thought Mortal Kombat 4 was supposed to run well, but it seems to crash every time the chosen fight tower starts to scroll down (right after the character selection screen). I can bypass that by just pressing an action button to go into the fight directly, but after the fight the emulation crashes the PSP anyway.

So, the game is not playable. Only the first fight is playable. At least that's my experience with it.

Anyway, at that point, right after the beaten fighter falls to the ground, I get a blue screen (not "of death", because I can press X or O to exit), which says "Your PSP has just crashed. Et cetera, et cetera."

It's just too bad, because the sound and the speed were very nice, from what I saw. Sure, there was no health indicator for the fighters during the fight, but that was very minor compared to the crash problem.
Can other people actually go on and beat the game in DaedalusX64?

Hey, maybe if I try the Vanilla version, it will work better?!?
(Or are 'Modded' and 'Vanilla' pretty much the same?)

Thank you.

Nice report but next time add a savestate.
So can you post a savestate of this crash.
And thanks for helping this community.

No problem.
I've attached a savestate (but it's only of my favourite button configuration, before going to the 'Arcade' mode), and I've also attached the exception file from the main folder. The .mpk and .hle files in the SaveGames folder were not allowed by this forum, or else I would have attached them, too. Let me know if you want them.
I hope these will be of good use, and I hope I'll get some advice on how to play this game successfully in return.

I'm a very big Mortal Kombat fan, you see.
(So, I should be the one thanking you, if you get this game to run well on all PSPs. But, say, did you personally try it, if you don't mind my asking?)

Oh, and, again, I was using the Modded DaedalusX64, not the Vanilla.

File comment: I think this was saved after one of the crashes. I pressed 'X' instead of 'O'.

can someone confirm that this happens on the vanilla version too?
Is this a regression or something that happened on earlier revs?

Hi, Corn.

Thanks for the reply.

I've just tried the Vanilla R766, and yes, the crashes happen in that version, too.
(Maybe it's my PSP, I'm thinking, but on the other hand I can confirm that Mortal Kombat Mythologies and Mortal Kombat Trilogy work exactly as described on these forums on my PSP.)

I got a little bit of hope when reading "regression", though. Did you or somebody else try Mortal Kombat 4 in an earlier version, with success?
I'd like to try that version, too, if somebody can tell me which one, please.

Thank you one more time.

I gave a quick look at Mortal Kombat 4 and the reason that it crashes is that we end up clipping too many vertices, it should be fixed in the next rev.

Wow this was quite an easy fix to do. Excellent job Salv-E.

Oh, wow, you're positive you're going to make it work in the next release of DaedalusX64?
That's amazing! Thanks! I can't wait.

And, in case you were wondering, yes, no luck with the three previous versions suggested here, either. Crashes still occurred.

Thank you again, guys!

Thank you very much for version 777 of DaedalusX64 (which does, indeed, solve the MK4 problem)!
The game works great now. Excellent work! Thank you again!
(I'm very glad I posted here asking for help.)

If you don't mind my reporting another problem with this game, though, I would just like to tell you about one small issue, which does not make this game any less playable.
I'm not ungrateful, or anything, just perhaps a little like a perfectionist. I don't mean to annoy anyone.

I tried the MK4 cheats, and on my PSP enabling the fatalities in the cheat menu (every 32 VLBS, which was the default) made the handheld freeze and become unusable. It happened every time. With those cheats disabled, the game always works. I tried both Fatalities 1 and Fatalities 2, and I tried only Fatalities 1, as well.

Again, this inconvenience is very minor. (I believe the cheat enables the fatalities to automatically happen without the player inputting the sequence of moves, which is not necessary at all. But, because I wasn't sure you knew about this problem, and this thread was here, I thought I should mention this, too.)

Again, thank you very very much for reading about the crash problem, for fixing it, and for the great emulator!
