Created multiple save states to test DK64. Here are the states, and results.State Descriptions
1st - inside DK's house.
2nd - just outside DK's house.
3rd - inside Cranky's lab.
4th - just outside training barrels.
5th - inside 4th training barrel.
6th - drinking potion from cranky.
7th - after potion. Standing at the game leading to DK Isle.
8th - main area (DK Isle).
9th - meeting K.Lumsy.
10th - watching rock explode (cutscene).
11th - just before getting golden banana. Standing on DK Isle.
12th - inside cave leading to 1st world.
13th - K.Rool 1st cutscene.
14th - inside 1st world.My results
1st - Boots to black screen. FPS bar visible.
2nd - Loads image(s) of games, but none are active. Freezes on 'DK' screen transition. If continued, it loops between two frames of the screen transition.
3rd - Loads 'Cranky's Lab' scene with proper title display. Lighting is active for a few moments, before it fades (with the 'DK' screen transition, and cuts to the previously mentioned two frame loop. Cranky appears fine; DK has some slight graphic issues.
4th - Boots to black screen. FPS bar visible.
5th - Loads timed challenge, but only the first frame. It freezes after loading. 58 seconds on the clock. In a previous test, it displayed 38. 2D orange grenades are boxed by beige colour. DK's torso is messed up.
6th - Boots to black screen. FPS bar visible.
7th - Loads two frames of the state. DK's graphics are semi-messed up. The bamboo fence has layering issues with the white light behind it. There's an entire fence graphic, a light graphic on top of it, and then a cutout of the fence placed on top of the light portion.
8th - Boots to black screen. No FPS bar.
9th - One of the best states. Hangs on an image of the bottom of K.Lumsy's cage. After 10 seconds, it continues with the scene, and plays it through, at about 4-5 FPS. Text displays fine. K.Lumsy's head kinda goes into his stomach, leaving him no neck. When K.Lumsy asks DK to help him, it cuts to a shot of DK. As always, DK's graphics are messed. A chunk of his face seems to be missing. DK's text appears for what I think to be far shorter time than it should. The scene then goes to what should be the rock exploding, and freezes 2 frames in. The waterfall has an inexact blend. The land on DK Isle doesn't display properly. It too has layering issues, as things that should be behind the DK head can be seen right through it. After a while, it cuts back to DK in the cave, but freezes mid-'DK' transition. All that is visible is DK within the little transition box.
10th - Same thing as Savestate 9, from the rock explosion on.
11th - Boots to black screen. No FPS bar.
12th - DK's graphics are messed. This state actually plays through. DK stnads there, the golden banana couter thing is spinning. It runs at about 2 FPS. Once you move, or press a button, it freezes.
13th - Boots to black screen. No FPS bar.
14th - Boots to black screen. FPS bar visible.
Notes: My results were tested on a PSP with CFW 5.50 Promethus. The savestates were created with, and are intended for 'Donkey Kong 64 [U] [!]'. I tested all saves on an [E] [!] version, and all booted to black screens.
