All wii firmware versions can be hacked. The best site I've found is wiibrew.org
What you need to do is find something that can install the Homebrew Channel for you. After installing you're all set to do whatever you want with the wii.

Dolphin is something that can let you play both Gamecube and Wii games on a PC. Just search google for dolphin emulator.

Sorry, but I'm not gonna help you any further. Just go to the site and look around. You'll find tutorials there on the home page.

Used both the LoZ Twilight Hack and the BannerBomb on earlier versions of the Wii. Both worked great and were simple to use.

I haven't hacked my wii since we had to use the twilight hack back on around 3.4 so I dun kno much about hacking it anymore, but I kno about the latest cios [custom ios to play backup games, like cfw] an stuff like that.
I suggest you upgrade, I believe from around wii menu 4.1 or 4.2U, you can load data from the sd card on the wii menu. when you upgrade, upgrade from a homebrew app that upgrades, without Nintendo's bs. Please don't ever update directly from Nintendo
